Lyons Falls- Reginald W. Ossont, 58, of Franklin St. passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at his residence, after a long illness, while surrounded by the care of his loving family and Lewis County Hospice. He was born in Lowville, on August 27, 1954, a son of Floyd R. and Arlene Mashaw Ossont. Reggie grew up in Lyons Falls and graduated from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1972. Thereafter he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving his country as a Marine Helicopter Mechanic, honorably discharged in 1976. He returned to Lyons Falls, where he was employed for many years as a fork truck operator at Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Co., until the plant closed in 2000. His last employment was at Ethan Allen Furniture Co., Boonville, until 2004. Mr. Ossont was of the catholic faith and had attended St. John's Church, Lyons Falls. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing; he was a Yankee Baseball and Buffalo Bills Football Team fan. Reginald is survived by his four children, Cassie L. (Brandon) Duschen, Spotsylvania, VA, Jason A. (Ashley) Ossont, Ilion, Ashley M. (Randy) Bacon, Schoharie, NY, Katie E. (Erik) Gould, Herkimer; his step children, Jill (T.J.) Paschke, Forestport, Jennifer (Eric) Salmon, Port Leyden, and Jeffrey (Amanda) Morczek, Marysville, WA; grandchildren, Kayden, Garin, and Braden Duschen, Casey and Corey Ossont, Alexis and Logan Bacon, Erik and Kayla Gould, Jordan Millard, Riley, Raquel and Reanna Paschke. He is also survived by three brothers, William (Patricia) Ossont, Medina, NY, Jeffrey M. (Christine) Ossont, Ocee, FLA, Peter G. (Susie) Ossont, Lyons Falls; three sisters, Priscilla (James) Linck, Constableville, Maxine (Charles) McConnell, Boonville, Denise (Simon) Reed, Canastota; and a sister in law, Nonie Ossont, Lyons Falls and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth, in August, 1973 and Duane, in June, 2009. He is also survived by his loveable goofy dog Maria, aka "Fred". Services will be held in the spring at a time and date to be announced at Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, Inc. P.O. Box # 266, Lowville, New York 13367. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
