Constableville- Regina (Ward) Higby, 78, a native and lifelong resident of Crofoot Hill Road, wife of Ronald, passed away suddenly at her residence on Sunday, February 5, 2012. She was born on April 15, 1933, at the Ward Homestead Farm, a daughter of Ernest and Mary Sebastian Ward. Regina attended a one room school on Crofoot Hill, before attending and graduating from Constableville Central School, with the Class of 1951. On October 12, 1952, she was united in marriage with Ronald W. Higby at St. Mary's Church Rectory in Constableville. Thereafter the couple settled on the Higby Farm on Crofoot Hill Road. Following their marriage , Regina, was involved in the operation of the Higby Bros. Dairy Farm. Her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life. She greatly enjoyed her role of home maker for her family. Regina was famous for her pie baking. Her hobbies included crafts, knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles and raising flowers. She loved attending the children's sporting and school events. Mrs. Higby was a member of St. Mary's Church, Constableville, and the church Altar and Rosary Society. In addition to her husband of nearly 60 years, Regina is survived by her children; Marilyn Boston, Ajax, Ontario; Martha Faber, Boonville; Marsha Higby, Utica; Mark (Jolene) Higby, Constableville; Marlene (Dana) Arnold, Barneveld; Marie Higby, Columbus, OH; Melanie (Eric) Niermeyer, Vestal. Regina is also survived by her grandchildren: Adam and Ethan Boston, Amanda Scholl, Heather Higby, Mark (Kim) Higby, Leanne Higby, Patrick (Mollie) Wadsworth, Christopher (Zettie Blaakman) Wadsworth, and Alex and Lucas Niermeyer. Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Steven, Andrew, Aubrey, Lilly, and Olivia. Regina is also survived by her brother Leon Ward, and sisters, Genevieve Talarczyk, Phyllis (John) Muha, and Elizabeth (Charles) Monroe, brother-in-law, John Higby and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Florence Stoinoff, Lucille Swiernik, Estella Kornatowski, Carl Ward, Henry Ward, and Gertrude Trichillo and sisters-in-law, Ruth Pledger and Betty Crane. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M., at St. Mary's Church, Constableville, with Rev. Lawrence Marullo officiating. Interment will be in Constableville Rural Cemetery. In keeping with Regina's wishes there will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, Constableville, or to the Constableville Fire Company.
