Boonville and Verbank, NY - Raymond A. Gardner, 84, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he had resided since July, 2015. Raymond was a longtime resident of Verbank, NY (Dutchess County), prior to moving to Kortenaer Village, Boonville, in 2012. He was born in Cornwall, NY, Orange County, on September 21, 1936, a son of Lawrence and Annie Adsit Gardner. He grew up in Stanfordville, NY, Dutchess County, and graduated from Pine Plains High School, with the Class of 1954. From 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1959, Mr. Gardner service his country in the US Navy and was stationed in Korea during the ending time of the Korean Conflict. On January 11, 1964, Raymond was united in marriage with Mary Elizabeth Scofield, in Beacon, NY. Thereafter the couple lived in Verbank and Mr. Gardner was employed as a skilled carpenter in building construction throughout Dutchess County. Mrs. Gardner passed away on January 12, 2006. Mr. Gardner was a member of the Union Vale Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby and was also a talented artist. He enjoyed operating his Ham Radio in the Hudson Valley. He was also an avid reader of Louis L'Amour western novels. He is survived by his three daughters; Nancy Lynn (Tara) Gardner, Marlboro, NY; Deborah Sue (John) Gardner, Pine Plains, NY; and Sandra Lea (John) Tagliamonte, Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Vanessa, Maranda, Grace Ann, William, Jeremy, Joshua and Jaina and great grandchildren, Makayla, Payton, Charles, Kaden, Skylar and Mason. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family at Verbank Cemetery, Verbank, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Vale Fire Department or the Boonville Fire Department. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
