Port Leyden- Randy William Kapfer, 67, a longtime resident of Moose River Road, passed away on Saturday August 22, 2020, at The Abraham House of Rome, after a brief illness. Randy was born in Lowville on February 25, 1953, a son of William M. and Emma Lou Leffingwell Kapfer. He grew up in Turin, where he graduated from South Lewis High School with the Class of 1971. Thereafter he was first employed for Bob Klossner of Constableville, in home construction followed by many years of employment in maintenance for Ethan Allen Furniture Company, Boonville, Georgia Pacific Paper Co. Lyons Falls, Lewis County General Hospital and lastly at North-South Connection, Boonville. He greatly enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, snowmobiling and raising rabbit and coon hunting dogs. Randy is survived by his father, William Kapfer, Turin; four brothers; Lonnie Kapfer, Turin, Kevin Kapfer, Turin, Robert (Karen) Kapfer, Boonville, Scott (Sarah) Kapfer, Turin; two sisters, Karen (Carl) Morrison, Martinsburg and Ann and Jeff Kogut, Lyons Falls; one son, Ian Weiler and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Emma Lou Kapfer, in 1986 and by a sister in law, Susan Kapfer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at The Turin Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
