Theresa - Ralph Douglas Stefhon, 76, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Colonial Park Nursing and Rehab Center Rome, New York. Ralph was born on July 6, 1942 in Boonville, New York the son of Ralph and Edna (Montgomery) Stefhon. He lived the majority of his life in the Boonville area where he attended school until moving to his final home in Theresa, New York. Ralph married Janice Barnes on May 2, 1959 at the Boonville Methodist Church. They began their family and resided in the Boonville and West Leyden area for 24 years. Janice passed away on December 27, 2009. Ralph worked as a logger for Adams Logging for many years until he decided to become a self employed logger and spent many years doing what he loved most being in the woods. His proudest moment was winning the log loading contest at the Woodsmens Field Days in Boonville even with a prosthetic leg. His greatest trait was his work ethic as not even a wooden leg could stop him from going to work every day. Among being a logger, Ralph loved growing a garden, hunting, playing cards, wrestling, camping and spending time with family and friends. You could not find a better story teller or anyone who could tell Little Johnny jokes better. He is survived by four sons, William J. Stefhon and his wife, Colleen of Ava, Douglas L. Stefhon of Croghan, Russell W. Stefhon of Croghan, and Ralph D. Stefhon and companion Linda of Theresa; three daughters, Linda Scales and her husband, Douglas of Reading, KS, Sharon Harrington of Canastota, and Rhonda Dunn and her husband, Patrick of Columbia, MD., two sisters Jeanette (Tom) Browning, Tappahannock, Va, Gail (Andy) Stefhon, Columbia, MD and one brother, Ronald Stefhon, Theresa, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion Maryann Gallup and her children he called his own and their families, Julie Pate, Rodney Gallup and Sam Gallup. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Edna, a son James, who died as an infant, in 1964, a brother Elton and sisters Vera Rogers, Barbara Wills and Betty Michura, a niece Katie Allen and a nephew Ronald Stefhon. A service will be held on Friday, at 2:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be from 1 P.M. until the funeral. Interment of Ralphs ashes will follow in Hayes Cemetery, Hawkinsville.
