Priscilla B. Wilbert

September 7, 1926 — March 16, 2021

Boonville- Priscilla Bronson Wilbert, 94, a former resident of Lansing Place and State Rt. 26, West Leyden, and the widow of Howard L., passed away while surrounded by the loving care of her family, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville where she had resided since June, 2017. Priscilla was born in Remsen, on September 7, 1926, a daughter of Gerald R. and Dorothy Dolan Bronson. She grew up in McKeever, where she attended school. Later her family moved to West Leyden, where she completed her education, graduating from West Leyden Central School, with the Class of 1944. During WW II, she was employed at Rome Cable Co. and the Rome Air Depot. On August 18, 1945, Priscilla was united in marriage with Howard L. Wilbert, at St. Mary's Nativity Church, West Leyden. In 1956, Mr. Wilbert founded the Howard L. Wilbert Insurance Agency of West Leyden. In 1961, Mrs. Wilbert became a fully licensed insurance agent and from then until they retired in 1984, the couple operated the insurance agency together. After they retired, for many years they wintered in Bartow, FL. Mr. Wilbert was a Navy veteran of WWII and active in the West Leyden community, passed away on October 14, 2000. Priscilla will be fondly remembered as a very kind and generous lady who was a friend to all and through her talents of cooking, baking, especially her pie baking and gardening brightened the lives of many people. In her early adulthood, she sang at many Catholic weddings and funerals, until her role of being a mother took over. Priscilla and Howard greatly enjoyed round and square dancing, playing golf, bowling and shuffle board. She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making scrap books, and making crafts with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wilbert was a member of St. Mary's Nativity Church, West Leyden, and in later years she attended St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. She was a member of St. Mary's Church Altar & Rosary Society, West Leyden, where she coordinated many church dinners. After moving to Boonville she became a member of the Catholic Women's Club of St. Joseph's Church. Above all, Priscilla greatly loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. She is survived by her children; Becky (Carmen) Proia, Rome, NY, Terry (Kae) Wilbert, Albion, NY, Renee (Rick) Khalar, Austin, TX, Bradley (Paula) Wilbert, Williamstown, NY, Eileen (Seth) Wilbert, Boonville and special family members Ace and Jackie Wenner, West Leyden; grandchildren, Shaun Wilbert, Commack, NY, Erin (Matthew) Goodrich, Holly, NY, Colin Wilbert, Rochester, NY, Scott (Lauren) Wilbert, Lexington, SC, David (Jackie) Wilbert, Pennellville, NY, Jeri Barber, Kissimmee, FL, Kayla (Ben) Lastowski, Camillus, NY, Casey Wilbert, Rochester, NY, Kendell (Cody) Hitt, Niskayuna, NY; great grandchildren, Caitlyn Wilbert, Adaline Lastowski, Audie Lastowski, Ace Lastowski, Kylie Wilbert, Parker Wilbert, Deacon Wilbert, Lila Wilbert, Micah Goodrich; one sister, Susanne Boardman and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Dorothy Dolan Bronson, a son, Seth Wilbert and her siblings, Nancy Keller, Mary Claire Kessler, Philip Bronson, James Bronson, and Danny Bronson. Priscilla's family wishes to send a note of deep appreciation to the entire staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, for all of the loving care which they extended to Priscilla during her stay at the facility. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Leyden. Calling hours are Friday, June 4, 2021, from 4-7 P.M. and Saturday, 9:30 - 10:30 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where face masks are required. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy St. Boonville or to West Leyden Fire Company, P.O. 205, West Leyden, NY 13489 or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.
