Rome- Philip C. Green, 54, of Rome Taberg Road, husband of Carolyn, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, from injuries he sustained in a fall, on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, while working on a construction project in Munnsville. Philip was born in Lowville, on November 14, 1956, a son of the late Charles D. and Regina S. Gorczyca Green. While growing up in Trenton Falls, Phil attended school in Holland Patent, before moving to Boonville, where he attended Adirondack Central School, later receiving his GED. From 1975 until 1977, Mr. Green served his country in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Corpus Christi, TX, and on the USS America CV-66, in the Mediterranean Sea. He was employed at Ethan Allen Furniture Co. of Boonville, before being a partner with this brother, Mike in the operation of 2 Brothers Construction Co. of Boonville. For 21 years he was employed as a carpenter for Lakewood Construction Co. of Utica; at the present time he was a self employed carpenter in residential and commercial construction. On May 24, 1980, at the home of the bride in Boonville, Philip was united in marriage with Carolyn Kelly. After that the couple lived near Boonville before moving to Rome many years ago. He was of the Catholic Faith and had attended St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. Phil was an avid NASCAR fan; he enjoyed attending NASCAR Races throughout the east coast, especially with his family at the Watkins Glen Race Track. For a time he worked with the pit crew at Oswego Speedway. He was a "car nut," of the finest order who loved super modified cars, vintage cars and any type of automobile. Phil and Carolyn enjoyed traveling, recently the couple had returned from a trip to Ireland. Phil loved his family; in addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by three children, Christopher M. Green, Mallory A. Green, both of Utica, and Eric J. Green, Rome, one grandson, Dylan Grems, Floyd, one brother Mike and wife Diane Green, Boonville; four sisters, Debbie and Pat Green, Long Island, Cindy and husband Daniel Masera, Plymouth, NH, Brenda and husband Tom Bashant, New Hartford, and Kathy Green, and Lio, Brooklyn; his step mother, Joyce Green, Liberty, NY, his mother in law, Patricia Kelly, Constableville; two sisters in law, Beth and husband Bruce Fox, Boonville, Sandy and husband Chris Earl, and one brother in law, William Kelly, and wife, Lynn, all of Constableville. He was predeceased by his mother in 1982, his father in 1985, and his father in law, Wilson "Sam" Kelly, in 2008. A prayer service will be Monday at 9:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien at 10:00 at St. Joseph's Church, with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, both in Boonville. Visitation hours are Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
