Boonville- Penelope S. Rosskopf, 75, of Moose River Road, wife of Peter C. passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at St. Luke's Home, New Hartford, while surrounded by her loving husband and family. Affectionately known as "Penny," she was born on June 30, 1941, in Port Chester, NY, daughter of Mitchel and Thelma Nordgren Syrek. Penny grew up in Cazenovia, where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1959. Thereafter she attended University of Chicago, before attending Berkley Secretarial School, of White Plains. For over 23 years, Mrs. Rosskopf was employed as a secretary in insurance investigations for J.J. Fletcher Co. of North White Plains, retiring in 2000. On September 22, 1962, Penny was united in marriage with Peter C. Rosskopf at the First Presbyterian Church of Dobbs Ferry. The couple lived in White Plains, until 2001, when they relocated to their present home in Boonville. She was a member of United Church of Christ of White Plains. After moving to the Boonville area she enjoyed being an active attendee at Hawkinsville United Methodist Church, where she was an assistant secretary and treasurer. For many years Penny was a volunteer at Matthews Place Ministry Thrift Store in Boonville and was a member of the Black River Fiddler's Association. She was an avid reader, a people person and enjoyed the casino. In addition to her husband, Peter, Penny is survived by one son and daughter in law, Alan (Elizabeth) Rosskopf, Mattydale. A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, July 13, at 4pm at the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 2pm until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Ct. Utica, NY 13502. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
