Pauline M. Mcgovern

Pauline M. McGovern, 80, a former resident of the Highmarket Road, the widow of Donald F. McGovern, passed away late Tuesday evening, February 7, 2006, at Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, where she had resided since April of 2004. She was born on March 3, 1925 in Westmoreland, NY, the daughter of Harold and Lena Nusser Dixon, and graduated in 1943 from Westmoreland High School. While in school, Pauline was instrumental in forming the first majorette baton twirling unit to perform with the Westmoreland School band in parades and school activities. Pauline was also an accomplished piano player. After graduation she was employed in the office of General Cable and at Westmoreland Malleable Iron Company. On June 1, 1946, Pauline was united in marriage with Donald F. McGovern at the Church Of The Annunciation, at Clark Mills, NY. In 1950, the couple purchased the former McDermid farm at Highmarket which together they operated for 34 years, retiring from farming in 1984. Mr. McGovern died on December 17, 2000. Pauline was also employed for several years in the office of the South Lewis School System at the Constableville Elementary School. Mrs. McGovern was a member of St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church of Constableville. In 1976, Mrs. McGovern was one of the founding members of the St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church of High Market Restoration Society, serving as secretary of the restoration society from l976 until the present time. Pauline is survived by three daughters, one son and their spouses: Donna and James Lehman, Lowville, Jane and James Allen, West Leyden, Mary and Michael Dutch, West Leyden, and William and Beth McGovern, Constableville. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and their spouses; Melissa Clark, Penny Rowsam, Krista Sanford, Andrew Allen, Darcy Dutch, Kari Dutch, Craig Dutch, Meghan McGovern, Philip McGovern, Cory McGovern, eight great grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as "GG:" Alec, Grace, Matthew, Sam, Lansing, Katherine, Erica, and Brett and at the present time Pauline was eagerly awaiting the birth of two more great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother and sister in law; Lloyd and Connie Dixon, Zephyrhills, Fla., one very, very special brother in law; Carl McGovern, Constableville, two sisters in law, Evelyn and Mary Joyce Dixon, both of Verona, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Donald, she was predeceased by one sister, Dorothy White and two brothers, Walter and Gerald Dixon. She also greatly enjoyed spending her free time cooking, knitting, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family wishes to express their heart felt thanks and deep appreciation to the staff of Sunset Nursing and Rehabilation Center for the kind and loving care they extended to Pauline while she lived at Sunset. Her family expresses a special note of thanks to Priscilla Linck and the B Wing Staff, and to her new found, caring friend and roommate, Mrs. Marie Richards. Her Funeral will be on Friday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 11:00 A.M. at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church, Constableville, where Rev. Lawrence Marulo, Pastor will celebrate at Mass of Christian Burial. A spring interment will be in St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Constableville Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund or to St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church, Constableville.
