Boonville: Patricia (Litz) Niznik, the matriarch of the family, passed away on Thursday, August 26,2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 20, 1935 in Ellisburg, NY, she was the youngest of thirteen children of Bert and Edith Litz. In her youth, Mom attended primary schools in the north country and high school in Whitesboro. On December 27, 1952, she married the love of her life, John Joseph (Pete) Niznik. Together, they would raise their children in Frankfort. Raising her family was quite an adventure. Mom never missed a school event. She spent many days going to school concerts and sporting events, particularly watching her sons wrestle. Mom was known to most people as Mom Niznik. After Pete's passing on August 12, 1994, she moved to Boonville with her son Edward in 1997. Mom's first priority was her family. She was a homemaker the majority of her life. She was the best cook and always prepared meals for her large family, although Fridays were known as "rounders" which meant you went to the fridge and rounded up whatever was in there. Mom enjoyed crocheting, having made many beautiful blankets and children's clothing. She was an avid reader, having read thousands of books in her lifetime. She enjoyed a good game of Yahtzee, puzzles, using her IPad, doing a "scratchie" and visiting a casino. She loved listening to Daniel O'Donnell and attended several of his concerts when he was in the states. Mom didn't work many years outside of the home because her first priority was her children, but for a time she worked at Mohawk Data Science, Charles T. Sitrin Home and for the Weavers, who were the ancestral daughters of the first settlers in the Mohawk Valley. Mom made sure that the family was taken care of throughout her life. There were always yearly vacations and the Holidays were extremely special, particularly Christmas where she still gave us stockings. Mom and Dad not only took well care of their children but also were foster parents to numerous children for over twenty years. They received special local and state recognition for being foster parents due to their years of dedicated service. Mom loved to travel and took three cross country trips with Dad. She was very pleased to have visited all fifty states and loved her trip to Alaska with Dan and Ed. She also enjoyed her vacation to Ireland and Scotland. One of her favorite places to vacation was Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. She was able to visit Tennessee one last time, a few days before her passing. Mom was always there to help someone in need and offered excellent advice and guidance. Mom was the strongest individual we ever met. She is survived by her loving children, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Dr. John (Citlali) Niznik and their children Patricia and Caitlin, Ron (Michelle Crane) and his children Patty (Mike) Spagnola and great grandchild Dominick, Ronald Niznik, Jr., Sabrina (Pete) Moot and great grandchild Peter IV, Patrick Niznik, Timothy (Joanie Link) and his daughter Tess (Mike) Marcinkowski and great grandchild Levi, Daniel and his daughters Danielle and great grandchild Logan John and Kaylee, Edward, Andrew, daughter Mary (Robert Flint) and her children, Kimberly Clark, Beverly Clark and great grandchild Mercedes, and Kevin Clark and great grandchild Kendra.
