Rome- Patricia A. Spencer, 69, a former resident of Post St. Boonville, passed away at Rome Memorial Hospital, on Monday, August 27, 2012, after a long illness. For many years before residing at Bethany Gardens in Rome, she was a resident of West Court St. in Rome. Pat was born in Utica, on September 3, 1942, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Hurlburt Spencer. She grew up in Boonville, where she graduated from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1962. After that for fifty years she found great enjoyment in being employed as a shipping clerk for Sampo/Rome Specialty Co., first in Barneveld and Forestport, retiring from the company's Rome location. Pat was an accomplished poet with some of her poetic works being published and award winning. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and kite flying. Her smile could make everyone happy. She was loved by all. She is survived by a brother and sister in law, John (Jack) Spencer and Pamella, Rome, and other family members; Michael and Cindy Welsh, Gigi Fuess and Bob Kane, Brynna Welsh, Ethan Welsh, Kelsie Fuess, Rihana Dye, Dominik Dye, Her Cat, "C J" cousins, Bea and Annie, and among many many friends, the Violando family. Her family wishes to offer a sincere message of thanks and appreciation to the staff at Bethany House and Rome Hospital for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Humane Society, 6247 Lamphear Road Rome, NY 13440, or to a charity of your choice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday from 4-7 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will be private in Boonville Cemetery.
