Forestport- Patrice R. Gagnon, 76, passed away on December 6, 2012, with his loving family at his side, after a long battle with diabetes and kidney disease. He was born in Riviere' Du Loup, Province of Quebec, Canada, on March 13, 1936 and was one of 14 children born to Pierre Gagnon and Aurore Des Jardins. He is predeceased by his parents and brothers Roule, Adrian, Robert and Jean-Francois; and two sisters, Rita and Marcel. Patrice came to the United States in 1962 and has lived here permanently since that time. In April, 1968, he married Sally (Abel) at St. Mary's of the Snow in Otter Lake, NY. Mr. Gagnon made his living in the logging business as a Lumberjack. He was employed by Hall and Lindsay, Inc. and Edgar Nadeau, while residing in Old Forge and after settling in Forestport, in 1971, he was employed by Koenig Brothers Logging Co. for several years until becoming disabled with diabetes. He loved the Adirondacks, the outdoors and hunting. He also enjoyed cooking, making woodcarvings, snowshoes, Christmas wreaths walking sticks and canes. He was of the Catholic faith. Patrice greatly loved his wife, Sally and his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two grown children, Danielle Gagnon Hopkins (Mark), Hartwick, NY, and Joseph D. Gagnon (Leslie Vance), Cicero, NY, three granddaughters, Kari Lynne, Jolie Nicole and Lauran, and one step-grandson, Logan Vance; brothers, Real, Antoine, Alexandre, Paul Emile and sisters, Nicole, Mary Claire and Rejeanne. His Funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Visitation will be Monday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
