Pascal Ronald Politano

Boonville - Pascal Ronald Politano, 92, of Dutch Hill Road, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023.


He was born, on May 20, 1931, in Bronx, NY, a son of Francesco and Nicolina Suriano Politano. Pascal is survived by his children: Ellen B. Politano, Hawaii, Mary Suzanne Politano, Dryden, NY, Cynthia A. Politano, Boonville, NY, and John F. Politano, Hawaii; grandchildren, Edward and Nicholas Pallett, Ryan and Rachel Ricci, Megan, Kellie and Mathew Politano. He was predeceased by his former spouse Sarah B. Greenwell Politano, and his siblings Frank James Politano and Anita Politano Steckel. He leaves behind his beloved cats Oliver, BoGo, and Rosie.


Major Politano served twenty years in the United States Army and was with the 503 Rock, 11th Airborne Special Forces/Green Beret. He was experienced in a variety of fields such as intelligence, R&D, psychological operations, political warfare, nuclear weapons employment and special operations. He was selected for the Distinguished Instructor Award at JFK Institute for Military Assistance. He was also the U.S. Senior Advisor to the Republic of Vietnam Political Warfare College. Following his retirement, he lectured for eight years in English and Political Science for the University of Maryland in Europe. He was selected as intra-European faculty speaker on Political Warfare and also was a member of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.


He lived in the Far East, Germany, Italy, and France, and had traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, North Africa and South and Central America. In his retirement he continued to write fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, having 17 books published in these genres.


In keeping with Pascal’s wishes there will be no funeral services or calling hours. A private service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box # 266, Lowville, NY 13367 or to Jefferson County Hospice, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
