Otis "Toots" Munn, Jr. 79, a native and life long resident of Rt. 12D., husband of Clara May, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 10, 2008. He was born on April 24, 1928, a son of Otis and Fern Wood Munn, Sr. Otis attended the Talcottville Rural School, and then he completed his education at Boonville High School. He began his truck driving career at the age of 15. He was first employed in the West Leyden area, for Frank Breen driving tractor trailers loaded with chips, and after that for several years he drove log trucks transporting timber out of the Adirondack Mountains. Later he was employed by LeRoy Toth Trucking Co. of Lyons Falls, and for a time during his truck driving career, he owned a fleet of trucks, and was a co-operator of his parents farm on Rt. 12 D near Talcottville. For over twenty years, Otis enjoyed his employment as head truck driver for Coleman Bros. Shows Carnival, driving their amusement ride trucks throughout New England and New York State, retiring in 2006. In 1948, Mr. Munn was married to Helena Rocker. The couple later divorced. On February 3, 1973, he was married to Clara May Thayer Rudd, in the Town of Trenton. Otis greatly enjoyed deer and coyote hunting, and snowmobiling. In addition to his wife, Clara May, he is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Timothy and Bertha Munn, James P. and Carol Munn, both of Boonville, two daughters and sons in law; Gloria Kessler and David Germany, Melanie and Faanati Mapuoletuli, Marshville, N.C., many grandchildren, and great grandchildren, one brother and sister in law; George and Lu, Kingman, AZ., one sister and brother in law; Ann and William Edwards, Stittville, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Chester in 1986. He is also survived by a sister in law; Lucille (Booty) Munn, Utica, a daughter in law, Esther Munn, Lyons Falls, his step children; Donna M. and husband Deryl LaLone, Westernville, Mona R. and Enrique Mota, Dominican Republic, Ken A. and Debbie Rudd, David J. and Irene Rudd, both of Boonville, Keith M.. and Sarah Rudd, Perland, TX., and Randy S. and Diane Rudd, Constableville. His Funeral Services will be Friday at 9:30 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor William A. Mudge of Boonville United Methodist Church, and Pastor David Kessler, a son in law of Otis, officiating. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Port Leyden Fire Co. Ambulance, or to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O.
