Boonville – Norma H. Donahue, beloved mother and life-long Boonville resident, died February 8, 2025, at Sunset Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since June 2021.
Norma was born in Boonville on August 6, 1936 to Donald and Rebecca Haynes Crill. She attended Boonville High School, graduating with the Class of 1954. In May 1955 she married Norbert Weiler and together they had four children. They later divorced in 1974. In 1981, Norma married Paul A. Donahue.
Norma worked for Willard Press (late Boonville Graphics) in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She was part of the team that printed the Woodsman’s Field Day program. She later worked at the Boonville Herald for several years as a typist. Norma loved her job as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. She delivered mail on all three rural routes during her career, retiring in 1998. She was a proud member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association.
Norma loved traveling with family and friends. She greatly enjoyed her trip to Ireland, and many February visits to Florida. She also traveled extensively in her retirement to many parts of the United States. Norma was a member of Boonville Fitness for many years, exercising into her 80’s. She cherished the friendships she made there.
Norma was a lover of animals, especially her pug, Penny-Poo. She loved her garden and flowering plants that hung on the front porch of her home on Woodgate Drive. Norma made friends everywhere she went. She will be missed by many of the residents and staff at Sunset.
Norma is survived by her twin sons: Timothy (Renda) Weiler, Thomas (Betsy) Weiler, her daughters: Lorie (Mark) Bellinger and Julie Weigand, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sisters Donna and Sandra, brothers James (Marjorie) Crill and Randy (Cindy) Crill, a sister-in-law Sandi Crill, and a special niece Marie Adams. She was predeceased by Norbert Weiler in 2015, and Paul Donahue in 1982. She was also predeceased by her long-time companion Jack Smith in 2024, a grandson Jesse Weiler in 2024, a brother Delbert Crill in 1997, and a sister-in-law Ruth Coscomb in 2011.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with Deacon James Chaufty officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 9th from 10:00 am until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box #682, Lowville, NY 13367.
