Nicholas M. '"Gigs"' Pallotta

Palisades Park, NJ - Nicholas M. "Gigs" Pallotta, Sr., 88, formerly of Palisades Park, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he had resided since 2007. He was born in Palisades Park, on March 2, 1922, a son of Michael and Martha (Victerella) Pallotta. He received his education in Palisades Park, and on August 8, 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS William P, Biddle out of San Francisco, CA. Mr. Pallotta was honorably discharged on December 3, 1945. For many years he was employed as a tractor-trailer driver for Needhams Motor Service, Philadelphia, PA. Later he was employed as a school bus driver. On February 16, 1947, Nicholas was united in marriage with Louise Ascione at St. Joseph of the Palisades Church, West New York, NJ. Mrs. Pallotta died September 24, 2007. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Wendy) Pallotta of Constableville and Nicholas (Kathy) Pallotta of Otter Lake; three grandsons, Jason, Jamie, and Michael and his wife, Lorena Pallotta; a step great-grandson, Derek; two sisters, Frances Parker of Dumont, NJ, and Camille Anderson of Lake Hopatcong, NJ; two brothers, Frank of Patterson, NJ and James of Ridgefield, NJ. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Kida and Rose Pollut, and by a brother, Jake. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St., Boonville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church, Palisades Park, NJ, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation hours at Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Ft. Lee, NJ are Thursday 4-8 p.m. His interment with military rites will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Woodgate Cemetery, Woodgate, NY.
