Boonville- Nellie May Gallaway, 92, of Echo Lake Road, wife of Clarence, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019, while surrounded by the loving care of her husband and family, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Nellie May was born on July 4, 1927, on Echo Lake Road, near Boonville, a daughter of Warren and Eve Van Buskirk Williamson. Her younger life was spent on Buck Hill, near North Western, where she received her education at a rural school near North Western and at Boonville Central School. Later Mrs. Gallaway was employed for many years on the cafeteria staff at Holland Patent Central School, Holland Patent. Before moving to her present home in 1991, the couple lived on Smith Road, Town of Floyd for more than 25 years. On October 30, 1948, Nellie May was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clarence R. Gallaway, at First Presbyterian Church of Rome. Together they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Alaska. Along their travels Nellie May and Clarence were known for their love square dancing. Nellie also enjoyed berry picking, gardening and using her talented seamstress abilities. For many winters the couple lived in Arizona and in Florida. Where ever Nellie was, she greatly enjoyed swimming. In addition to her husband of 70 years, Nellie is survived by two sons, William R. Gallaway, Bernards Bay, NY, Warren B. (Anna) Gallaway, Marcy, NY. She was predeceased by a son, Ronald Keith Gallaway. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Dawn Gallaway, Kerry Holloway, Lisa (Andrew) Kuhlmann, Amy (Duane) Germond, Jr. and Paula (Robert) Hernandez, thirteen great grandchildren, Stacey, Alexa, Luke, Kaitlyn, Nicole, Andrew, Matthew, Julianna, Duane, III, Hope, Emily, Alex and Zander, and one great great granddaughter, Autumn and many nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by a brother, Howard and by a sister, Marcella. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Monday, July 15, at 5:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. There are no calling hours.
