Port Leyden- Natalie B. Ripp, 91, formerly of Mechanic St., widow of John M. passed away while under the loving care of her family at Lewis Co. Extended Care Facility, Lowville, on Saturday, January 7, 2017. She was born in Syracuse, NY, on February 23, 1925, a daughter of La Verne and Frances Fleming Boland. Natalie grew up in Syracuse, where she graduated from Most Holy Rosary High School. There after she furthered her education graduating from Marywood College, Scranton, PA, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics. Afterwards Natalie moved to Port Leyden, where she taught Home Economics at Port Leyden Central School. On December 23, 1948, Natalie was united in marriage with John M. Ripp at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syracuse, NY. Later for many years Mrs. Ripp was employed as a substitute teacher, before teaching reading for several years at the Howard G. Sackett BOCES Center, Glenfield. Mr. Ripp passed away on May 30, 1985. She is survived by six sons, William, Bradenton, FL, Michael (Judy) Lyons Falls, Mark, Lebanon, TN, Brian, Port Leyden, Sean, (Lou Anne) Sackets Harbor, Alan (Lyn) Port Leyden; four daughters, Mary Ripp, Port Leyden, Patricia (Thomas) Koubek, Howell, NJ, Kathleen Ripp, Hawthorne, NY, and Laura (Paul) Lazarus, Lowville; thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one sister, Carolyn Jaquin Winter Park, FL. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Boland. Mrs. Ripp's family extends a note of heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the entire 4th floor staff of Lewis County Extended Care Facility for the wonderful and compassionate care extended to Natalie. Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday, with a 10:15 am Prayer Service, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00A.M. at St. Joseph's Church of Christ Our Hope Parish, Boonville, where Rev. Thomas Ward, pastor, assisted by Deacon James Chaufty, a longtime friend of the Ripp family will officiate. Calling hours are Tuesday, 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. A spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Memorial Contributions may be made to Port Leyden Fire Company, P.O. Box # 652, Port Leyden, NY 13433.
