Boonville- Nancy R. Trainor, 87, Ford St. wife of Lester, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 14, 2015, after a short illness, while surrounded by the care of her loving husband, family and hospice. She was born in Rome, NY on September 18, 1927, a daughter of Raymond M. and Anne Dorothy Jones Roberts. Nancy grew up in Rome, and for a time in Mobile, Alabama, where her father was employed at Revere Copper & Brass, in Mobile. Later her family returned to Rome, where she graduated from Rome Free Academy with the Class of 1945. At that time Nancy began her long career as a telephone operator, first for Bell Telephone Co. of Rome, and later for many years at General Telephone Co. Boonville. On April 10, 1948, Nancy was united in marriage with Lester W. Trainor, at the First Baptist Church of Rome. This was a very loving and happy union that endured for 67 years. After their marriage the couple settled in West Leyden, before moving to their present home in Boonville, in 1959. After retiring from General Telephone Co., Mrs. Trainor was employed for many years as a sales clerk first for Hess Pharmacy, and then for many years at Fay's Pharmacy, both in Boonville. In 1959, Mrs. Trainor became a member of the First Baptist Church, of Boonville, where she served for many years as Church Clerk, choir member, a Deaconess and church trustee. Nancy was very active in community and civic endeavors; she was a long time member of Salma Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Boonville, for many years she served as Election Inspector for the Town of Boonville and was a volunteer in the Exhibit Hall at the Boonville Oneida County Fair, where she also served as chairperson for the fair pie and cake baking contest. Mrs. Trainor loved music; she was a Charter Member of the Adirondack Community Chorus and DPN Art and Community Center and Boonville Historical Club. She greatly enjoyed attending Welsh Hymn Sings and was a member of St. David's Society. She greatly enjoyed the activities that her husband, Les enjoyed. These included snowmobiling around the North Country, motor cycle riding over a large part of the northeastern United States, and riding around the area and northeast in their Model T. and other vintage automobiles. For several years the couple enjoyed visiting Florida during the winter. In addition to her husband, Les, Nancy is survived by her four daughters and four sons in law, Deborah (Dale) Liddle, Forestport, Donna (Matthew) Ripp, Boonville, Diane (Chester) Worden, West Branch, Rebecca Oeschger, and her fiance, Gerald Krusper, Greig; sixteen grandchildren, Paul, David, Thomas, and Karilyn Liddle, Amy Simanowski, Eric Ripp, Emily Hernandez, Benjamin Ripp and Hannah Peters, Elizabeth Belknap, James Genther, Reanna Worden, Allisa Worden and Leah Huete and Caroline and Caleb Oeschger. She was predeceased by a grandson Samuel Trainor Ripp. Also surviving are twenty five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Rev. Raymond Roberts. Her services will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church, Boonville, where Pastor Joe Feller will officiate, with interment to follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
