November 2, 1953 — June 17, 2018

Turin- Nancy M. Barnhart, 64, of West Road, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on November 2, 1953 in Madison, NY a daughter of Melville and Dorothy Griffith Moon. She was raised in the Alder Creek area and attended Remsen Central School. She had been employed at the Rainbow Laundromat, Utica, a cleaner at Vans Tavern, Barneveld, a cook at the Blue Barron as well as other local restaurants. A marriage to Raymond Barnhart ended in divorce. She was also blessed with twin daughters with her former companion Wayne Hastwell. Above all, Nancy loved and cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren, especially playing rummy. She also found joy crocheting, playing with her pets, and reading. She is survived by her children: Melissa (Melody R.) Barnhart, Kevin R. Barnhart, all of Remsen, Ashley Hastwell, Turin, Lindsey Hastwell and her boyfriend Caleb Rubar, Lowville, grandchildren: Sara (Chris) Patterson, Mississippi, Megan McCauley, Jessie McCauley, Anthony Rouse, all of Remsen, Kayla Alsante, Utica; a great-granddaughter Alyxandria Patterson, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings: Patricia Howard, Woodgate, Joan (Jim) Ingersoll, Forestport, Judith Greene and Vernon Bruner, Constableville, Dorothy Whitmeyer, New Jersey, and Melville Moon, Boonville. She was predeceased by an infant sister Jean Moon, a niece Belinda Judith Greene, and a brother-in-law Richard Whitmeyer. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Aggie Walker of Forestport Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodgate Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to Lewis County General Hospital and Residential Healthcare Facility and Lewis County Hospice Comfort Care Room Staff for the excellent care given to Nancy, also to Mark and the Respiratory Dept. for being there for Mom.
