Mildred L. Krokowski

May 14, 1928 — January 1, 2007

Mildred L. (Millie) Meiss Krokowski, 78, of Lowville Heights, a former resident of Turin, and widow of Walter, passed away suddenly at her residence on Monday, January 1, 2007. She was born on May 14, 1928, on the Meiss family homestead farm in the hamlet of Glendale, a daughter of Marshall Ray and Jessie Adams Meiss. Mrs. Krokowski graduated from General Martin High School in Glenfield, and after that she was employed as a telephone operator for the Lowville Telephone Co. On May 11, 1950, Millie was united in marriage with Walter Krokowski, Jr., at the Turin United Methodist Church. The couple purchased and operated the former Walter and Mildred Wendt dairy farm on the West Road between Constableville and Turin until Mr. Krokowski died on July 20, 1961. After that the farm was sold, and she moved to Turin, where she lived for many years. Later Mrs. Krokowski was employed for AMF of Lowville, and then from 1977, until she retired, she was employed in the housekeeping department of Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville. She moved to Lowville from Turin in 1985. She was affiliated with the Turin United Methodist Church, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A kind hearted animal lover, she was a long time member of the National Humane Society. Her survivors include: four daughters; Sandra J. Krokowski, Lyons Falls, Marcia L. Koster and husband, Carey, Lowville, Patricia K. Wiedrick and husband, David, Turin, Sue E. Millard, and husband, David, two sons; Mark R. Krokowski, and wife, Margaret, both of Port Leyden, John F. Fejko, and wife, Michelle, Martinsburg. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: Amy Krokowski, Michael Millard, Adam Millard, Michelle Roes, Jason Krokowski, all of Port Leyden, Justin Wiedrick, Alicia Wiedrick, Mallory Wiedrick, all of Turin, Keisha and Kyle Fejko, Martinsburg, Tina Gigliotti, Greig, David Millard, Ticonderoga, NY., Dr. Carrie Colombo, Rochester, NY., Chad Colombo, Boston, MA., Tory Colombo, Denver, CO., two great grandchildren, Alyssa Krokowski, and Ian Anderson. Her Funeral Services will be on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Turin United Methodist Church, where Pastor Billie Jean Melton will officiate. Interment will be in Turin Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 7-9 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
