Forestport- Michael R. Ingersoll, 55, of White Lake Road, affectionately known as “Ike”, unexpectedly passed away in the Town of Forestport, on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
He was born in Utica, on June 5, 1967, a son of Roy J. and Joan Moon Ingersoll. Mike’s entire life was lived in Forestport, where he attended elementary school before graduating from Adirondack Central School, Boonville, with the Class of 1985. While attending high school, he enrolled in BOCES, majoring in carpentry.
Mike worked in the construction and masonry fields for several local businesses prior to beginning his career as a rigger for Rig All, Inc. in Frankfort, NY. He was a member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Carpenters Local Union 277. He retired several years ago due to disability.
Mike found a lifelong thrill and great enjoyment from snowmobiling, riding his Harley and four wheelers. He loved anything which provided action and speed, always being on the cutting edge of whatever activity he was participating in. He also enjoyed spending time in nature, hunting and camping. He possessed a special and endearing love and affection towards animals of all kinds, both domesticated and wild. He was affectionately known as the “Dog Nanny”. Mike also had a great fondness for children; he enjoyed making them laugh. He was a well-known member of the community and was often the “life of the party”. He had a great sense of humor and created nicknames for his many friends.
In addition to his parents, Roy and Joan Ingersoll, Forestport, Mike is survived by one son, Geoffrey Ingersoll; his siblings, James (Karen) R. Ingersoll, Forestport and Deborah L. Kiskiel, Lee Center; two nephews and a niece, Nicholas, Evan and Jenna, several aunts, uncles and cousins, including cousin and close friends, Cindy and Jody Combs, Forestport, and Buddy, his four-legged loyal companion. Earlier this year, he was predeceased by his brother in law, George Kiskiel, Jr.
Mike’s family wishes to extend a special note of thanks and appreciation to members of the New York State Police, Oneida County Sheriff Department, Forest Rangers and the many friends and volunteers who responded to search and assist when Mike was reported to be missing.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport, at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
