Forestport- Michael P. Clare, 66, of State Rt. 28, formerly of Rt. 26, West Leyden, passed away at his residence, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, while under the loving care of a friend and Hospice. Michael was born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 15, 1955, a son of Patrick J. and Phyllis Bush Clare. He grew up in Philadelphia, before moving to West Leyden with his family in 1963, receiving his education at West Leyden Central School, before graduating from Adirondack High School, Boonville, with the Class of 1974. He was first employed at J.C. Lumber Company, followed by many years of employment as a vintage boat refinisher and rebuilder at the Forestport Boat Company. He was also a partner in the C&C Construction Co. of Port Leyden and he owned Black Wolf Furniture Upholstery Company. Later for several years Michael was employed at Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville. He was of the Catholic Faith and enjoyed camping, boating and playing poker. Michael is survived by many family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; Patrick and Phyllis Clare, in 1976 and 2012; one brother, Martin J. Clare, in 1980; and by a sister, Maureen, in 1960. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Charles St. Boonville, where Rev. Matthew Rawson, Pastor, will officiate. Interment in the spring will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Croghan. Calling hours are Monday 9:00 A.M. - 10:30 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
