Michael G. 'Mike' Henry

Boonville- Michael G. Henry, 53, of Main St. husband of Michelle, passed away at his residence, while surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Mike was born in Constableville, on December 3, 1959, a son of Gordon L. and Christina Moonan Henry. He grew up on Schuyler St. in Boonville, and graduated from Adirondack Central High School, Boonville, with the Class of 1978. During high school, he also attended the Howard G. Sackett BOCES Center, Glenfield, where he majored in Electrical Trades. Mike was a member of the Adirondack High School Varsity Football and Baseball teams. In December, 1980, Mr. Henry entered the U.S. Army, serving his country state side and in Germany. In 1981, he graduated with a diploma from the U.S. Army Field Artillery School at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. During his service at Ft. Carson CO, he served in Radio operations, and was an expert marksman. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Pvt. First Class on November 30, 1982. He served in the active Army Reserves from 1983-84, as a heavy equipment operator, where he completed crane operation school. After that he returned to Boonville, where he was employed for BREIA as a grounds man; for ten years he was employed at Rome Cable Co. followed by employment as shop supervisor at Sargent's Chair Factory of Boonville, and during that time, for several years, Mike was employed as a general contractor in new home, and home renovation construction in the Boonville area. From 2008, until the time of his illness, he was employed as a machinist at Revere Copper & Brass Co. of Rome. On April 14, 2005, Mike was united in marriage with Michelle K. Platt in Boonville. Mr. Henry was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. He was an avid hunter; fisherman and he loved the outdoors. In addition to his wife, Michelle, Mike is survived by two sons, Todd and Ryan and two grandchildren, Brooke and Blake. Also surviving is his mother, Christina Henry; three sisters, Deborah Barrett, Karen (Daryl) Zeigler, Dorothy (Richard) Sears; four brothers, Kenneth Henry, Daryl (Linda) Henry, Lawrence ToJo (Fawn) Henry, John (Debora) Henry. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon L. Henry, on April 12, 1991, and by a sister, Dorae Henry, on August 24, 1969. Also surviving are aunts an uncle, many nieces, nephews and cousins, a brother in law, Christopher (Tammie) Platt, and a sister in law, Angela Platt. Mike's family extends a note of heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Hospice and Palliative Care for the kind and compassionate care they gave to Mike. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Charles St. Boonville, where Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, pastor will officiate. Interment with military rites will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. There are no calling hours.
