Blossvale - Melissa (Missy) Lynn Kaido, 53, wife of Curt, passed away following complications of Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) on Friday, May 27, 2022, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Facility, New Hartford. Melissa was born on January 2, 1969, in Lowville, New York. A daughter of Aaron Hoffert and Carol Hance Hoffert, she grew up in Constableville, receiving her education and graduating from South Lewis High School with the Class of 87. She then completed her education at Mohawk Valley Community College. Melissa then pursued a career in the insurance industry, most recently she was employed with Utica National Insurance Co. as a systems analyst. On August 26, 1995, she was united in marriage with Curtis B. Kaido at St. Mary's Church, Constableville. The couple settled in Blossvale where they have since lived, raising a son Matthew J. Kaido. Melissa lived through others, taking pride in the rich relationships she developed both professionally and personally. She found hope in every face, every chat, every chance meeting at the store, and every person she spoke to. Melissa enjoyed what life had to offer, cherishing every part of every person's life, good and bad. She held her trip to India (2011) in particularly high regard, citing it as a uniquely eye-opening experience. Melissa is survived by her husband Curt, Blossvale, her son Matthew, New Paltz, three sisters: Julie Hoffert, Boonville, Denise Hoffert and Mike Tomassi, Rome, and Sharon (Carl) Wood, Lee Center, in addition to their children, cousins, and her husband's siblings Charlene Shafer, Albany, Charles Kaido and Jean, Stokes, Carlton Kaido, Stokes, their children, cousins, Melissa's many friends and her cat Minnie. She was predeceased by her parents Carol (Aaron) Hoffert, aunts, uncles, friends, and the loving family dog Buddy. In keeping with Melissa's wishes she will be cremated. A visitation will be held at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville on Friday, June 10th from 2pm to 5pm. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the PKD Foundation, which is dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease.
