Maxine E. Laquay Mcconnell

Boonville - Maxine E. LaQuay-McConnell, 73, of Lansing Place, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. Affectionately known as Max, she was born in Lowville, on November 28, 1948 a daughter of Floyd and Arlene Mashaw Ossont. She grew up on Franklin St.in Lyons Falls, graduating from South Lewis High School with the Class of 1966. Following her education, for a time Maxine worked at the Boonville telephone company, before her longtime employment with Georgia Pacific and Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper Co., as a payroll and accounting clerk. On April 12, 1969 Maxine was united in marriage with Kenneth LaQuay, and the couple lived on Gorham St. where they raised their family. Mr. LaQuay, a US Army veteran passed away on April 21, 1998. Shortly thereafter Maxine moved to Boonville, where she has since lived. She had a strong work ethic and continued her clerical work at Griffith Energy Co., Rome and then Boonville, and she was currently employed at Wine & Spirits at 130 Main, Boonville. On July 5, 2003 Maxine married Charles McConnell, he predeceased her on March 16, 2015. Maxine was always there to lend a helping hand, and will fondly be remembered for her love and generosity to others. She enjoyed planning family parties and get-togethers, helping anyone with a benefit, and loved to have a good time. Family vacations to OBX, Florida, Disney and Vegas will bring fond memories for the years to come. For several years she was a volunteer for the NYS Woodsmen's Field Days, and was a co-chair of the parade. Maxine was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Boonville Elk's Lodge, and for several years was an active member of the Lyons Falls Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Maxine is survived by her daughters: Michelle (Richard) Josephs, Oriskany, and Jamie Palczynski (Paul Ramos) Rome; grandchildren Bryson Josephs, Nashville, TN, and Aryana Josephs, Oriskany; siblings: William (Patricia) Ossont, Gasport, NY, Peter (Susan) Ossont, Lyons Falls, Jeffrey (Christine) Ossont, Ocoee, FL, and Denise (James) Reed, Canastota. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in Maxine's life. She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Arlene Ossont; brothers: Kenneth, Duane and Reginald Ossont, and a sister Priscilla Linck. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 18, at 9:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, Charles St. Boonville, with Rev. Matthew Rawson officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls in the spring. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 16 from 6-8, and on Friday December 17, from 1-3 and 7-9 pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, New York 13502.
