Boonville- Maurice D. Champion, 57, affectionately known to all as David, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2015. Maurice was born on July 27, 1957 a son of William Edward and Mildred May Gates Champion. As a child he grew up in the Carthage and Glenfield areas, before moving with his family to Lyonsdale. David graduated with the Class of 1976 from South Lewis Central School. David enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served until he was honorably discharged in 1977. For several years he was employed for Sargent's Chair Factory in Boonville. For a short time he was also employed for Melee Manufacturing and for Tony's Pizzeria both in Utica. David was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends hunting and fishing across New York State. He is survived by his siblings: Phyllys (Elwood) MacDougal, Port Leyden, Marcia (Richard) Snyder, Boonville, Cynthia (Jerry) Brown, Deerfield, FL, Kim Sibley, Pompano Beach, FL, and Joel Champion, Cocoa Beach, Fl; aunts and uncles: Linda (George) Barnes, Boonville, Douglas "Barrett" Champion, Baldwinsville, and Sandra Jackson, Auburn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. David was predeceased by his parents, and a brother Darryl Champion. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 7:00pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Boonville Fire Co. P.O. Box #164, Boonville, New York 13309.
