Matilda I. 'Tilly' Biro

Boonville-Matilda I. Biro, affectionately known as "Tilly," a former longtime resident of Gleasman Rd., Town of Ava, widow of William, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, while surrounded by the loving care of her family, at the home of her son and daughter in law, Michael and Jean Biro, on the Webster Hill Road, Boonville. For the past ten years, Tilly had resided with Michael and Jean. She was born in Boonville, on December 6, 1926, a daughter of William and Alice Young Youngs. Matilda grew up in the Town of Leyden, and in Port Leyden, where she graduated from high school with the Class of 1944. After that she was employed at Monroe Mfg. Company in Boonville, until 1945, when she married Edward Germanski in the Boonville Methodist Church. After that the couple operated a dairy farm on the Germanski Road (now Gleasman Rd.) in the Town of Ava. In 1961, the couple purchased the Boonville Chair & Stool Co. from Donald Buckley, and operated this business until it was destroyed in a fire in the later 1960's. She and Mr. Germanski were later divorced. On November 9, 1967, she was married to William A. "Bill" Biro at the Westernville Methodist Church. After that they operated the Biro Farm on the Gleasman Road, retiring in 1983. For several years, Mrs. Biro was employed as a seasonal employee at Delta Lake State Park. Mr. Biro passed away on June 16, 2005. Her survivors include her children: Linda and Alan Marmon, Port Leyden, Patricia Carpenter, William E. Biro, Michael and Jean Biro, all of Boonville. She was predeceased by a son Carl Germanski, in 1960. Also surviving are several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Milton (Mike) and wife, Adaline Youngs, Charles and wife Marge Youngs, all of Boonville and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, George Youngs, and by three sisters, Pearl Y. Hutchins, Isabell Buchanan, and Mildred (Esther) Gleba. Her Funeral will be on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Daniel Richter, from the Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to West Leyden Fire Department Ambulance Fund P.O.
