~~Kayuta Lake- Mary S. (Mandry) Krul, 97, formerly of New York Mills, widow of Casimer, passed away after a short illness, on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Since 1977, Mrs. Krul had resided on Buck Lane, Kayuta Lake. Mary was born in New York Mills, on July 9, 1920, a daughter of Walenty and Mary Sczot Mandry. She received her education at St. Marys School, graduating from New York Mills High School. On April 3, 1948, Mary was united in marriage with Casimer (Frank) Krul, at St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, New York Mills. This was a blessed and loving union which endured for over 52 years, until Mr. Krul, a WWII Army Veteran and retired Police Chief for the village of New York Mills, passed away on January 13, 2001. After her marriage Mrs. Krul became the owner and operator of Mandrys Confectionary Store, on Main St. New York Mills, a neighborhood variety store founded by Marys father. Mary retired from her store in 1976. Mary was a former member of St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, New York Mills and a member of St. Patricks Church, Forestport. She was a very talented vocalist who was accepted at Julliard School of Music, New York City. For many years Mary was a participant in choirs in New York Mills and the Utica area. She was also a talented artist who will be fondly remembered for her creation of beautiful paintings of religious and outdoor scenes. Mary is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Ray and Michelle Krul, Kayuta Lake, Rev. Valentine Krul, Syracuse, and two granddaughters whom she cherished and adored; Kierstin and Kevin Peach, Alexandria, VA, and MaryCatherine Krul, Syracuse and many nieces and nephews, with a special thanks to Selma Krol, Dawn Wojciechowski and Julie Turk, who provided Mary with their special loving care. The last of her family, she was predeceased by brothers, Alfonse and Edward Mandry. Marys family wishes to express their sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, for the kind and loving care which they extended to Mary. Her Funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. and at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patricks Church, Forestport, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Forestport. Calling hours are Tuesday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
