Forestport- Mary Rose Huxley, "Rosie" 55, of Nightengale St., wife of Gregory P. Sr., passed away suddenly at her residence on Sunday, June 27, 2021. Mary Rose was born in New Hartford, on June 17, 1966, a daughter of Sylvia Garrow. She grew up in Brookfield, where she attended school, before moving with her family to Utica, where she attended Utica Free Academy. Mary Rose was a diligent and hard working person; after her marriage and while raising her children, she returned to her schooling earning her GED in 1988, Associate Degree from Utica School of Commerce, in 1994 and a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from SUNY IT, Utica, in 1996. In 1997, she began many years of employment as an accounts manager at Disco Electrical Supply Co. of Boonville and continueing employment as Accounts Manager and Corporate Secretary, when Disco Co. became National Eletcrical Systems, Inc. of Rome. Mary greatly enjoyed the time spent working for the Stratton family; in 2018, when National Co. closed,Mary rose began her current employment as Accounts Manager at Smith Packing Co. of Utica. On November 19, 1983, Mary Rose was united in marriage with Gregory P. Huxley, Sr., in Floyd, NY. In 1991, the couple moved to their present home in Forestport. Mary Rose greatly enjoyed baking, doing crafts of all kinds and especially knitting, crocheting and making beautiful quilts. Her greatest joy in life came from her role as wife, mother, and especially grandmother. Her family will always remember Mary Rose as the matriarch of the family. Mary Rose was predeceased by her son, PFC Gregory P. Huxley, Jr. on April 6, 2003. In addition to her husband, Greg, Mary Rose is survived by her children; son Bernard K. Huxley, Remsen; two daughters and one son in law, Nicole and George James, Forestport and Rebecca Huxley of Forestport, nine grandchildren, Aaliyah, Michael, Tianah, Breanna, Analee, Brooke, Hunter, George and Jovani. Mary Rose was also predeceased by a grandson, Dominic Huxley and by her mother, Sylvia Garrow. Also surviving is one brother, George Garrow, Utica and her three best friends, Valerie Cash, Jennifer Russell and Colleen Moylan and their families and a host of additional relatives and friends which brought much joy into Mary's life. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation hours on Friday, July 2, 2021, from 2-4 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and to graveside services at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Forestport, at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 9, 2021. Memorial contributions may be made to The PFC Gregory P. Huxley, Jr. Scholarship Fund, C/O Adirondack Central High School.
