Boonville- Mary R. (Andre’) Addington, 79. Of State Rt. 12D, and a former longtime resident of Wingert Road, Hawkinsville, passed away while surrounded by the loving care of her family, on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville.
Mary was born in Boonville, on August 4, 1943, a daughter of Edward and Doris Boyer Podkowka. She grew up in Boonville, receiving her education at Boonville Central School and later earning her GED. For over twenty-five years of employment in the finishing and repair department of Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Company. It was said that Mary was brilliant in the field of wood furniture finishing and that if needed, there was not an item of furniture that she could not repair or restore to be like new. For a short time, she was employed for the U.C.P. System at the Barneveld Facility. Mary’s last employment until retirement in 2006 was as a nurse’s assistant in prison health care, at the Mohawk Correctional Facility, Rome.
On June 23, 1962, Mary was united in marriage with Robert J. Andre’, at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville. Thereafter the couple lived on Wingert Road, Hawkinsville. Mr. Andre’ an employee of the N.Y.S. Canal Department, passed away on January 21, 2000. In 2012, Mary moved to Boonville where she had made her home with her daughter, Renna, until entering the nursing home in April, 2023.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport and St. Patrick’s Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed fishing, cross word puzzles, arts and crafts and particularly centered around the Christmas season. Mary was also an avid bird watcher and she greatly enjoyed her flowers and flower gardens.
She is survived by a daughter, Renna Pierce and friend, Maria, Boonville; a son and daughter in law, Ronald and Tammy Andre’, Hawkinsville; grandchildren, Sarah Pierce, Dewitt, Nicole and Jarret Mills, Hawkinsville, Ashley Andre’ and Korey Seifert, Remsen, Matthew Andre’ and Shelby Egnaczyk, Hawkinsville, one great grandchild, Lydia Seifert; step son, Curtis Addington and his wife, Alecia, Stoney Point, NC and their children, Devin, Christian, Riley and Isabella; one brother, Joseph Podkowka, Boonville; two sisters and brothers in law, Ruthie and Richard Reese, Port Leyden, Patricia and James Reed, Mt. Juliet, TN and nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary possessed a special affection for her two canine companions, Fluffy and Monique.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Matthew Rawson, on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 10:00 A.M., at St. Patrick’s Church, Forestport, with interment to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Forestport. Calling hours are Tuesday, May 30, from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M., at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to ST. Jude’s 501 Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
