Boonville - Mary McDonald Rowlands, 86, of Boonville passed away on February 15, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. Born February 21, 1923, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Donlon) McDonald, she grew up in the Camden and Remsen areas attending school in both locations. She was united in marriage with George W. Rowlands on April 2, 1945 at St. Leo's Church, Holland Patent. After their marriage, she was employed at Sampo Fishing Tackle Co. in Barneveld until her retirement in 1985. Mr. Rowlands passed away on May 24, 1977. Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Church and was a foster grandmother at the Boonville Head Start program for several years. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wesley T. Rowlands of Fernley, NV and Dennis C. and Kathy Rowlands of Concord, NC; four daughters, Mary M. and Alan Addington and Anne Rowlands and companion Mark Bowen, all of Boonville, Susanne and Tom Kessler of Wendell, NC, and Karen and David Wagner of Ellicott City, MD; a brother, Eugene McDonald of Remsen; a sister, Kay Seelman of Constableville; seventeen grandchildren, twenty one great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Patty Spencer. Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline E. Rowlands; three brothers, Ambrose, Raymond, and Joseph McDonald; a sister, Anna Hurlbut; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Raiser. Her funeral will be Thursday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with the Rev'd Sean Patrick O'Brien officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunset Nursing Home Activities Fund, 232 Academy Street, Boonville, NY 13309.
