Turin- Mary Louise (Peterson) Morgan, 95, of East Main St. Turin, widow of Thomas S. passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville. Prior to entering the hospital, Mrs. Morgan had resided at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. She was born in the Town of Martinsburg, on August 4, 1917, a daughter of John D. and M. Louise Claus Peterson. She grew up in the Martinsburg and graduated from Lowville Academy with the Class of 1935, thereafter attending and graduating from the Utica School of Commerce. For a time she was employed on the office staff of Utica-Mohawk Cotton Mills, Utica. On June 21, 1952, she was united in marriage with Thomas S. Morgan, at Houseville United Methodist Church. After their marriage the couple lived on State Rt. 26, in the hamlet of Houseville, where together they operated a dairy farm for many years, retiring in 1977, when they moved to Tuirn. Mr. Morgan died on June 16, 1983. Mrs. Morgan attended the Houseville Methodist Church; after that closed she joined and faithfully attended the Turin United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the Turin United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Turin Civic Club, the Turin Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of Turin Grange. She enjoyed crafts, gardening and reading. Mary is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Peter A. and Judy Morgan, New York Mills, John T. and Melanie Morgan, Ogdensburg; three grandchildren, Bryan, Katie and Christopher; and two great grandchildren, Mia and Sofia. She was predeceased by three sisters, Bernice Lee, Beulah Smith and Florence Gallup; four brothers, James, Donald, Max and Robert Peterson. Her Funeral will be Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Turin United Methodist Church, East Main Street, where Rev. Billie Jean Melton, pastor will officiate. Interment will be later this spring in Houseville Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 11 A.M. until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. at the church.
