Utica- Mary Katherine "Katie" Smith, 63, widow of Henry H. passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016, while surrounded by loving care from her family, at Faxton - St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, after a long illness. A native and life resident of Utica, Katie was born on December 31, 1952, a daughter of Charles H. and Mary E. Hall Heburn. She graduated from high school, and received as associate's degree in Business Management in Utica. For many years she was employed in accounting for Tehan's Retail Store, New Hartford, before over 25 years of employment in the business office of The Arc of Oneida and Lewis County, of Utica, retiring as manager of the Accounts Payable Department. On September 8, 1979, Katie was united in marriage with Henry H. Smith, at St. Stephen's Church, Oriskany. During their marriage the couple greatly enjoyed visiting many locations in the U.S. including Alaska as well touring local shopping venues. Mr. Smith passed away on February 28, 2014. Katie is survived by three sisters in law, Priscilla Boliver, and Frances (Richard) Boliver, all of Croghan and Karen Smith and companion, Tony Oaks, Lyons Falls. She was predeceased by a brothers in law, Gerald Boliver and James Smith. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Two special friends, Dorene Ingersoll and Keith Jenne, who helped care for Katie. In addition Katie is survived by her beloved pet dogs that were like family; Lu and Stella. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated for both Mary Katherine and her deceased husband, Henry, on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Thomas Ward, pastor will officiate. Interment of Mary Katherine and Henry will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Stevens Swan Humane Society 5664 Horatio St. Utica, NY 13502.
