Mary Kowalik Daskiewich, 95, formerly of Erwin Street and most recently of Ford Street, widow of Henry C. Daskiewich, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006, at St. Lukeï¿(TM)s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. For many years, Mary was a co-owner of the Hulbert House, downtown Boonville, with her son Henry J. Daskiewich. Mary was born in Glen Gean, West Virginia, on March 27, 1911, a daughter of Blaze and Margaret March Kowalik. She moved to the Boonville area with her family as a child, where she grew up on the Kowalik homestead farm on Potato Hill. On May 15, 1930, Mary was united in marriage with Henry C. Daskiewich, at St. Michaelï¿(TM)s Church of Mohawk Hill. After their marriage the couple resided on Erwin St. in Boonville. Mr. Daskiewich died on January 3, 1960. In 1964, Mary along with her son, Henry J. Daskiewich purchased the Hulbert House, a land mark hotel and restaurant that was established in Boonville in 1812. Since purchasing the business Mary had been very active as manager of the popular restaurant, and banquet facility, retiring in 1999. In 2000 she moved to Ford St. where she had since lived with her son and daughter in law; Henry and Marilyn Daskiewich. Mary was a member of St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church, Boonville, a member of St. Josephï¿(TM)s Altar and Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, and the Charles J. Love Post American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Her survivors include her son and daughter in law; Henry J. and Marilyn Daskiewich, Boonville, five grandchildren; David, Michael, Tracy Dickson, all of Boonville, Eileen and husband, Richard Esch, Forestport, Francis, Boonville, seven great grandchildren; Jacob, Dayna, Katie, and Emily Dickson, Lauren, Madison Esch, and Connor Daskiewich, three sisters; Anna Puglio, Rome, Helen Garbarino, Tobyhana, Pa., Sophie Rosinski, and husband, Alfred, Boonville, two sisters in law; Stella Kowalik, Otter Lake, Mary Kowalik, Boonville, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by three brothers; Joseph in 1962, Walter, and Zygmunt both in 1982, and by two sisters; Evelyn Henry in 1983 and Lena Lastowski in 1999. Her Funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church, Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Josephï¿(TM)s Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
