Lancaster MA- Mary J. Pemberton, 80, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012, after a brief illness. She was born Mary Puskiewicz in Elizabeth Town, NJ, on May 3, 1932, a daughter of Marion J. and Aniela "Nellie" (Hance) Puskiewicz. She grew up on the family dairy farm on Potato Hill, and graduated from Boonville Central School. A widow, she worked for the US Department of Defense, the US Air Force, the Department of the Navy and the US Army during her 30-year career in contract administration and traveled around the world. After her retirement, she lived in Fredericksburg, VA and in Bangor, ME. She moved to Lancaster MA in 2004. After retirement she enjoyed fishing, shopping, and family events. She was the recording secretary for the National Association of Federal Retirees Worcester, MA chapter. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Lancaster, MA. She is survived by a daughter Lauren MacCarthy of Lancaster, MA, her sister Helen Roberts of Remsen, NY, nieces Connie Langdon of Remsen, Susan D'Avanzo of Fort Hood, TX, and Sara Stottlar of Fredericksburg, VA, as well as several nephews including Walter and Victor Sudol, both of Boonville. Her surviving grandnieces and nephews include Kara Langdon, Jennifer Dameron, K.C. Stottlar, and Rachel Stottlar. Her sister Martha Rose Primo, and her brothers Walter, Joseph, John and Stanley Puskiewicz predeceased her. Calling hours were held at the Trainor Funeral Home in Boonville, NY on Thursday, September 14. A funeral Mass was celebrated for her on September 15 at St. Joseph's Church in Boonville. She was buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disable American Veterans or to the American Cancer Society.
