Port Leyden - Mary F. (Dean) Fruin Rhone, 78, a longtime resident of Brownville Road, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since January of this year. She was born in the Town of Pinckney, Lewis County, NY on April 4, 1932, a daughter of Frank and Hazel (McClemonds) Dean. Mary grew up in Turin, where she received her education, and moved to the Brownville Road in Pennysettlement at the age of sixteen. For over thirty years she was employed as a sewing machine repair person at the former Lally Manufacturing Co. in Port Leyden. She was later employed for a short time in the same capacity at a knitting mill in Glenfield. On October 21, 1948, Mary married Loren V. Fruin in Turin. He died on June 24, 1985. On December 5, 1987, she married Phillip S. Rhone, who died on January 1, 2003. She was a member of Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Boonville. Mary is survived by two sons, Ronald Fruin of Pennysettlement, and Dennis and his wife, Barbara of Hawkinsville; a daughter, Barbara Schindler of Turin; grandchildren Wayne and Beth Schindler of Turin, Theresa and Scott Loomis of Constableville, David Schindler of Port Leyden, Dodie and Matt Makuch, Dennis Fruin, Jr., and Jody Korman, all of Hawkinsville, Sam and Christina Fruin of Lyons Falls, Jed and Janice Dustin of Port Leyden, Nicholas Fruin of Pennysettlement, and Merrica Levesque of Boonville; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two step daughters; three step sons, a sister-in-law, Rose Dean of Lowville; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Julie Schindler in 1972, and Darrell Fruin in 2006. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where the Revï¿(TM)d William A. Mudge, pastor of Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Pennysettlement Cemetery, Town of Lyonsdale. Visitation is Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
