Mary Ann Beha

Rome - Mary Ann Beha, 51, passed peacefully on January 25, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, surrounded by family who loved her dearly. 

Mary was born on April 19, 1973 to parents Robert (Bob) and Jean Marie Snyder Beha. She spent her childhood in Rome but was often found visiting the Snyder family, enjoying picnics by the Black River, swimming, learning to play pitch, sledding and playing many games such as Monopoly at Beha farm.

Mary graduated proudly from RFA in 1991 where she studied Culinary Arts at BOCES. Mary became an amazing cook and worked at Teddy’s for 30 years before working at the Polish Home in Rome, both where she was treated like family. She excelled at swimming and was proud to have competed in the Special Olympics, winning countless medals. 

Her mom, Jean Marie, was her constant companion and loyal cheerleader as was her father Bob, before his passing in 2019. Mary was a social butterfly and was known by many in the Rome community but also enjoyed quiet time with her beloved pet rabbit, Peanut.

Mary is predeceased by her father, Robert Beha, her maternal grandparents Anthony W. and Francis Szyikowski Snyder, uncle James Snyder, paternal grandparents Charles and June Bassett Beha, and aunt Beverly Gates.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Boonville. There will be no calling hours. 

A special thanks to her Aunt Sue who advocated for Mary with fierce love until the very end, her uncle Tony and Gloria, friend Jill, and to the nurses at Rome Hospital, Mercy Flight, and to the ICU unit at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.
