Ava- Marshall L. Kohn, 64, of Ava, husband of Sandra, passed away on April 5, 2011, at the Rome Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. The son of George and Jeannette Kohn, he was born on December 14, 1946 in Norwalk, Connecticut. After Marshall completed his education in the Norwalk area, he volunteered to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He proudly served his country overseas, serving a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. After returning home he married Sandra A. Van Auken on June 29, 1968, in Bethel, CT. In 1978, Marshall and Sandra moved their family to Ava, NY. Marshall was an accomplished machinist, and very talented craftsman. Soon after their move, Marshall opened up his own machine shop the "Tool Room," and was also employed by the Rome Cable Co. for 16 years. His greatest joy in life, was the time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. Besides his wife Sandra, Marshall is survived by three sons, Tod Kohn of Ava, Mark Kohn of Rome, and Lucus and Nikole Kohn of Birmingham, AL, six grandchildren, Mia, Taylor, Jacob, Landon, Emma, and Payden. One sister, Susan Dubarry of Albany, and one brother Jeffery Kohn of Norwalk, CT. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, at 7 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Calling hours will be held from 5 P.M. until the time of the service. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Tun Tavern Lethernecks Marine Corps. League, Detatchment 961, P.O. Box #315, Boonville, NY 13309.
