Mark R. Krokowski

October 24, 1958 — March 8, 2010

Port Leyden - Mark R. Krokowski, 51, of the East Road, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville after a long illness. Mark was born in Constableville on October 24, 1958, a son of Walter and Mildred Meiss Krokowski. He grew up in the village of Turin and graduated from South Lewis High School with the Class of 1976. While in high school he participated in football, skiing and swimming. On April 15, 1978, Mark was united in marriage with Margaret Sullivan at St. Martinï¿(TM)s Church, Port Leyden. The couple made their home on the East Road near Port Leyden. For over 24 years he was employed as a papermaker, first at Georgia Pacific Paper Co. in Lyons Falls, then at Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper. He then worked for Climax Mfg. Co., prior to his current employment at Fibermark, both in Lowville. Mr. Krokowski attended St. Martinï¿(TM)s Church in Port Leyden, and was a member of the NRA and the Moose River Fish & Game Club. He greatly enjoyed hunting and all types of fishing. He was a fan of Miami Dolphins football, New York Knicks basketball, New York Mets baseball, and NASCAR racing, especially driver Mark Martin. In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by his children, Tina and her husband, Thomas Gigliotti of Glenfield, and Jason Krokowski at home; a granddaughter that he greatly adored, Katelyn Gigliotti; four sisters. Sandra J. Krokowski of Lyons Falls, Marcia L. Koster and her husband, Carey, of Lowville, Patricia K. Wiedrick and her husband, David of Turin, and Sue Millard and husband, David, of Port Leyden; a brother and sister-in-law, John F. and Michelle Fejko of Martinsburg; an aunt, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 1961, and by his mother in 2007. His funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Turin United Methodist Church, where the Revï¿(TM)d Billie Jean Melton, pastor will officiate. Interment will be in Turin Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
