Mark Owen 'Yup Yup Or Little Oak' Yager

November 3, 1961 — June 6, 2022

Hawkinsville- Mark Owen Yager, 60, of Hayes Road East, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 6, 2022, while surrounded by the loving care of his family and Hospice. Affectionately known as "Yup Yup," and "Little Oak," Mark was born on the Yager Homestead Farm, on November 3, 1961, a son of the late Owen P. "Okie" and Joan Moore Yager. He grew up on Hayes Road East, and received his education at Adirondack Central School, Boonville. After high school, Mark moved to Arizona where he was employed as a chef. Mark possessed a lifelong interest in cooking; after returning to Boonville, he put on many chicken barbeques for benefits and was also employed as a bar tender for area bars. For many years, Mark was employed as a carpenter for Stocklosa Contracting, Boonville. Later Mark moved to Kinderhook, NY, (Columbia County), where he entered a partnership with Matt Yauger, forming M&M Construction Company, doing masonry work, constructing and repairing homes made of stone, over a wide area in the Hudson Valley. In 2007, Mark returned to Boonville, where he was employed for many years in building and lawn maintenance for Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. After retiring he was employed in maintenance at the Pub, in downtown Boonville. Mark was a member of the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church and The Boonville Rod & Gun Club. Most of all, Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and also being at the Coscomb's, (a.k.a. "Yager's Acres). Mark also enjoyed attending family parties and dancing the Polka with his sisters, (as his family would call Mark's dance, "the Chicken Dance." He lived life to the fullest, with no regrets and especially loved the elderly, and loved all of his nieces and nephews like is own. His famous words, "Who makes you tough? Uncle Mark makes you tough." He was predeceased by one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Randy Barrows, a sister in law, Bonnie Yager, a brother in law, Bill Taylor, Nephew, Darrell Fruin, great nephew, Tyler Fruin and a great niece, Abigail Kelly. Mark is survived by a brother, Tom Yager and Jill Dehauski, Hawkinsville; sisters, Barbara (Dennis) Fruin, Hawkinsville, Julie Taylor, Woodgate, Liesa (John) Eaton, Lee Center, Dennis (Sally) Yager, Hawkinsville, Billie Jo (Dennis) Knoblauch, Constableville and a special cousin, Cheryl Ballard, as Mark would call her "Pearl." And by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Also surviving are his very dear friends; Matt Yauger, Dickie Alexender Mack and Cheryl Baker and Jeremy Britton. Mark's family extends a heartfelt note of thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of New Hartford and to county nurse, Shari Schindler for the compassionate care given to Mark. His Funeral will be Saturday, June 11, at 2:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be from 11:00 A.M. until the services. Interment will be in Hayes Cemetery, Hawkinsville. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a luncheon at the Boonville Elks Lodge on Saturday, immediately following the services, where contributions of food may also be delivered on Saturday from 12 Noon on.
