Marjorie passed away peacefully on March 1st at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Daniel O'Brien in Sandston, VA. She was born on October 2, 1933 to Marjorie and Ralph Peling in Lyons Falls, NY. She attended Lyons Falls School and was known for her athletic and artistic abilities, as well as being a prankster. She married Paul A. Donahue on May 19, 1951 and they built their home on Mill Street in Boonville, NY, as well as owning a farm on Furman Road in Boonville. They divorced in 1979. She worked at Lally Mfg in Port Leyden until she moved to Florida in 1987, where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home until her retirement in 2004 at the age of 71. In 2012 while attending a farmers market, she met President Obama, who shook her hand, got her a lawn chair in the shade and interviewed her on her opinions regarding healthcare for retired people. She always exhibited great strength, resilience, perseverance, guidance and an exceptional sense of humor and sarcasm (which will be missed by many). A feisty lady she will always be, her sense of humor amused us all. She enjoyed her dogs (Sam and Rascal), her rose garden and other flowers. She was an avid and skilled artist and taught anyone interested. She collected antique and collectable dolls, which was an interest she held since childhood. She especially enjoyed her time with her children and family and would never turn anyone away. She is survived by her children: Maureen and Daniel O'Brien of VA (formerly Port Leyden), Thomas and Colleen Donahue of Holland Patent (formerly Boonville), Rita and Patrick Tierney of Marcellus, NY (Rita formerly of Boonville), Kathleen and Jerry Kraeger of Constableville, Marjorie (Peggy) and Kent Wooten of St. Cloud, FL (Peggy formerly of Boonville), her sisters, Betty Storsburg, Sally Matusczak, Linda Dishman, and her grandchildren: Mike (Gretchen) Kraeger, Sarah (Mike) Metott, Courtney, Meredith, Ryan Van Dyne, Cari (Brandon) Rundle, Breanne (Adam) Platt, Cody Van Liew, Shane Wooten, Bo Haught, Marc Donahue, Camryn Tierney, Shelby and Kyle Farr. Her great grandchildren: Keegan, Logan and Braden, as well as many, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son Paul A. Donahue Jr., her grandson Shawn M. O'Brien, her siblings Blanche Nash, Alice Cain, James, Mary Hall, Frederick, Clara Bush, Robert and Ralph. At her request there are no calling hours or services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made to the ASPCA, The Shawn O'Brien Memorial Scholarship Fund(Community Bank, PO Box 337 Lyons Falls, NY 13368, attn Nancy Fruin) or a charity of your choice.
