Marjorie Bernice Swayzee

February 21, 1925 — December 10, 2007

Marjorie Bernice (Sloan) Swayzee, age 82, died Dec 10, 2007 in Rome, NY after a lengthy illness. The third child of Clay and Mabel (Kelso) Sloan, Marjorie was born Feb 21, 1925 at the family farm two miles east of Eldon, Iowa. She attended Betterton Country School during her elementary years and then attended Eldon High School, graduating with the class of 1942. After she attended Iowa Success Business College in Ottumwa IA, she employed by PJ Fridayï¿(TM)s Automotive Parts, Ruckerï¿(TM)s Hatchery, Wilsonï¿(TM)s Produce and the City of Ottumwa in a variety of secretarial positions. Marjorie married Charles Swayzee, a sailor stationed at the Ottumwa Naval Air Station, on Nov 6, 1946 in the Eldon Methodist Church, Eldon, IA. He predeceased her in 2003. She is survived by their three children: Martha and her husband Michael Kraeger, Rome, NY; Maxine Boxx, Orange Park, FL and Eric and his wife Rhonda Swayzee, Colonial Heights, VA. Also surviving are eight grandchildren Michael, Michele and Mark Kraeger, Monica Kraeger Rosado, Kelly Boxx, Jason, Charles, and Kyle Swayzee. Great grandchildren surviving are Merisa, Mariah, Matia and MaKenzie Rosado; Meghan, Benjamin and Madisyn Kraeger and Skylar Swayzee. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Marion, Irvin and Richard. As a military wife, she called six states and three foreign countries her home. Reading and history were her hobbies. She was a member of the Bayview Reading Club. After Charlesï¿(TM) retirement in 1966, the family returned to Eldon, IA where she lived for the next 40 yrs until she moved to Rome, NY to make her home with her daughter, Martha in 2006. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no funeral services. She will be buried next to her husband in the National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. Guest book can be signed at www.trainorfuneralhome.com.
