Marion R. Weiman

November 28, 1925 — September 29, 2008

Turin - Marion R. Weiman, 82, of West Main Street, wife of Roger, and formerly of West Main Street, Constableville, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2008, at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville after a brief illness. A native of Camby, MN, she was born on November 28, 1925, a daughter of Christian and Elsie Gustofson Satre. Marion grew up in Minnesota, and she graduated from high school in Minneapolis. Mrs. Weiman was a talented musician who enjoyed singing, playing the accordion and the autoharp. During WWII, she played and sang in a musical group, entertaining soldiers in different locations throughout Minnesota. On April 13, 1946, Marion was united in marriage with Roger G. Weiman at the Baptist Church of Minneapolis. The couple moved to the groom's hometown of Constableville, where they purchased the former Leo Frank farm on West Main Street with Roger's brother and sister-in-law, Arsa and Judy Weiman. They operated this farm until the late 1960's, when they sold the farm and built their present home in Turin. Mrs. Weiman was employed in the cafeteria at Constableville School, then later as head cook at the South Lewis High School Cafeteria in Turin; then as a secretary at BOCES in Glenfield. She retired in 1984 after thirty-three years of employment with the school system. She was an active member of Constableville United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the church Sunday school and the Turin Civic Club. Marion will be fondly remembered for her great skills in cooking and baking, especially her cookies. She greatly enjoyed quilting and was a talented quilter. In addition to her husband, Roger, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Stanley Phoenix of East Greenbush, NY; two grandchildren, Sonya Worden of Averill Park, NY, and Philip Phoenix of Nassau, NY; three great-grandchildren, Addison and Cameron Phoenix, and Liberty Worden. She was predeceased by her son, Larry D. Weiman, on January 31, 2003; a brother, Carl Satre; and a sister, Violet DeCoursey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Constableville United Methodist Church, where Rev. Billie Jean Melton will officiate. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in her memory to the Constableville United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, NY 13309.
