~~Lake Delta- Marietta M. Wright, 94, passed away peacefully at her home on Karlen Road, with her loving family and friends by her side, on October 26, 2017. She was born at the homestead on Webster Hill, Boonville, Town of Western on October 6, 1923, a daughter of the late Franklin and Helen Seeber McCormick. She graduated from Boonville High School in 1941 and Utica School of Commerce in 1943. She also attended courses at MVCC and Utica College in Real Estate and Genealogy. On July 3, 1950 she married the love of her life, Arthur H. Wright, of Lowville, at the Lowville Methodist Church Parsonage. This was a blessed union lasting nearly 60 years until his death on June 12, 2010. Marietta was employed at Dan Sullivan Drug Store, Utica, General Cable, Rome, Fischer Forestry & Real Estate Corp., Lyons Falls, Kent Company, and most recently Rome Savings Bank for 19 years doing many jobs within the bank, until her retirement in 1980. Following her retirement, she pursued historical and genealogical research of the Revolutionary War Period in the Mohawk Valley. She was successful in aiding more than 50 women to complete their application for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marietta was a member of the General William Floyd Chapter 1-062-NY and held offices since 1969. She was also as associate member with the Fort Stanwix Chapter 1-051NY for many years. She also served as Lee Town Assessor, and was appointed to serve on the Lee Town Board of Review. She was a member and officer of the Daughters of the American Colonists for 25 years. Marietta was also a charter member of the Delta United Methodist Church, where she was a very active member. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Mickey Eddy Wright, grandsons: Jason David Wright (Denise), and Marc John Arthur Wright (Companion Jessie Brasie), 5 great-grandchildren: Madison, Emma, Taylor, Preston and Brooke Wright, a niece, nephew and cousins. She was predeceased by a son David A. Wright on October 6, 2004. Marietta enjoyed attending meetings of her various organizations, giving lectures and setting up workshops on genealogy and spending time with friends and family. The family wants to thank the doctors and nurses aides who took special care of Grandma on the 2nd floor of Rome City Hospital. Funeral services will be Monday, October 30, at 11:00 am at Delta United Methodist Church, Town of Lee, where Rev. Robert Wollaber, a close friend will officiate. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 28, from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Prince, Boyd & Hyatt Home for Funerals, Inc. 210 West Court St., Rome. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delta United Methodist Church, 6285 Hawkins Corners Road, Rome, NY 13440 or to the Delta Lake Fire Department, 8508 Elmer Hill Road, Rome, NY 13440.
