Boonville- Marie E. Kraeger, 95, of Boonville, formerly of Woodgate, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012. She was born in Litchfield, NY, on November 6, 1917, a daughter of the late William S. and Keitha M. VanCour Covell. Marie grew up in Mohawk and Ilion. She was the cherished granddaughter of John and Mary Van Cour. Marie attended local schools; continuing her education in the Nursing Profession as an LPN. Mrs. Kraeger worked at Rome Hospital and Broadacers Nursing Facility before retiring in 1982. Mrs. Kraeger was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. She married Stewart W. Jacobson, on September 8, 1934, in Columbia, NY. He died July 26, 1959, in Ilion. Marie was united in marriage to John Kraeger on November 29, 1964, in St. Peter's Church, Rome, NY. Mrs. Kraeger was a very devoted wife and mother and she greatly loved her four children. She greatly enjoyed gardening and raising flowering plants. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Sluyter, New Hartford, Janet Twomey, and her husband, Kevin, Holland Patent; sons in law, Frederick Ricci (Pam) Boonville, Michael Griffin, Apple Valley, CA; many grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends, Bobby, Marty, Betty, Ellie, Blanche, Pennie and Matt. She was predeceased by her husband, John Kraeger, on October 11, 1997, and by two daughters, Donna J. Ricci and Keitha M. Griffin. Her Funeral will be Friday, December 28, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Sean P. O'Brien, pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the spring at Woodgate Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation and prayer service at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. on Friday from 9:30 -10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, her family requests a consideration of a contribution to either St. Joseph's Church, 110 Charles St. Boonville, or to Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Resident Activities Fund, 232 Academy St. Boonville, NY 13309. Her family would like to thank Sunset Nursing Home and its staff for their continued tireless dedication to their residents.
