Marguerite Fitzgerald

Glenfield- Marguerite (Midge) Fitzgerald, 93, of River St. passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had been a resident since January, 2010. She was born on March 5, 1918, in Gouldtown (Town of Lyonsdale,) a daughter of Milton and Clara Burns Brill. Midge grew up in Gouldtown, and graduated from Lyons Falls High School. She was united in marriage with George Henry Fitzgerald, on April 16, 1937, at St. Martin's Church Port Leyden. She was sadly predeceased by George, on April 24, 1981. For most of their married life the couple lived in Lyons Falls, later moving to Brantingham and Glenfield. She worked for Head Start, and then the U.S. Postal Department. Marguerite was a communicant of St. John's church, Lyons Falls, and in later years at St. Mary's church, Glenfield. She had much fun as a member of Singing Waters Senior Citizens group. She spent many hours doing what she did best, playing pitch with her friends; however, she was the happiest when she could be with her family. Mrs. Fitzgerald is survived by one son and daughter in law, James and Angeline Fitzgerald, Glenfield, and their childrern, David, Alan, Rosemary and Nancy, one daughter and son in law, Marie and Joseph Krug, Calais, ME, and their three sons, Timothy, Brent, and Michael. She also had several great and great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who showed her great kindness. She was predeceased by three brothers, James, George and Francis Brill, her sister, Florence Gaylord/Sweeney, and her dearest and best loved friend and sister-in-law, Gladys Fitzgerald. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, at 10:30 AM. at St.John's Church, Lyons Falls, with interment to follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. There are no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the 3G Fire Department, Glenfield, NY 13343.
