Boonville- Margaret I. Buneo, 89, widow of Ted, lifelong resident of the Moose River Road, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, following a brief illness. Margaret was born on the Yazowski Homestead Farm, on the Moose River Road, on November 19, 1926, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Lupiezowic Yazowski. She received her education and graduated from Boonville High School with the Class of 1945. Following graduation, Margaret then began her long and passionate career in the farming business by first helping her mother run the family farm. On May 20, 1950, Margaret was united in marriage with Theodore J. Buneo at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville with Rev. Robert Driscoll officiating. Following their marriage the couple settled on the Yazowski Farm. In 1951 they purchased the farm which they continued to operate together until their retirement in 1991. Mr. Buneo a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII passed away on January 7, 2005. Margaret also enjoyed tending to her gardens. She will fondly be remembered by her friends and neighbors for sharing the vegetables and flowers she raised. Above all, Margaret enjoyed her role as homemaker, and loving mother to her daughters. She was a talented cook and baker as well. Knitting and rug making were a specialty of hers. Margaret was of the catholic faith, and has been a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church. She is survived by her daughters: Sharon M. (Emil) Dedek, Milton, NY; Patricia J. Castellano, Modena, NY, her foster son Robert Hobin, Whitesboro, several nieces and nephews, among whom Mary O'Sullivan, Patty Forino and John Carroll where very special to her. Also surviving is Ponch, her beloved dog. Besides her husband Ted, she was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Andrea Buneo on March 11, 1961; and as the last surviving member of her siblings, she was predeceased by brothers: Thomas, Frank, Joseph, Rudy, Henry and John Yazowski, and sisters Rose Paddock and Elizabeth Carroll. A Prayer Service will be on Tuesday, September 20, at 10:15 am at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church of Christ Our Hope Parish, Boonville, with Rev. Thomas Ward Officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
