Margaret C. 'Peg' Brooks

September 8, 1940 — September 19, 2014

Westernville- Margaret C. "Peg" Brooks, 74, of Brooks Road, Town of Western, entered into her eternal home on Friday, September 19, 2014, where she was welcomed by her Lord and Savior, her husband Bruce, and children James, Molly and Chris. Peg passed away peacefully at home while under the loving care of her family. Peg was born on September 8, 1940 in Rome, a daughter of William and Frieda Hahn Condon. She grew up in Verona, where she was educated, graduating with the Vernon-Verona-Sherill Class of 1958. On May 2, 1959, Peg was united in marriage with Leon Bruce Brooks at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, Verona, where Rev. Raymond Loftus officiated. For a time Peg was employed as a clerk at Griffis Air Base, Rome. In 1960, the couple purchased the former Scherz Dairy Farm on Nestle Road (now Brooks Road) near North Western, which they operated until their retirement on April 1, 2003. Besides helping her husband in the operation of their farm, Peg was a loving mother, cook and homemaker. Mr. Brooks passed away on June 27, 2011. Peg was also employed part time as a custodian at the American Legion in Westernville. Affectionately known as "Ma", Peg was the most unselfish and caring person, a true angel here on earth. She brought hope and comfort to those who needed it, putting her own needs aside. She always said there were other people out there that had it worse than her, and she was always there to support them. Peg's Catholic faith was a very important part of her life. Peg is survived by one son and daughter- in-law, Neil (Marcia) Brooks, Town of Western; three daughters and sons in law, Cindy (Scott) Bourgeois Boonville, Nancy (Randall) Howard, Town of Western, and Amy (Brian) Heath, Town of Western; a daughter in law, Mary Brooks, Town of Western and a son in law Scott Dollinger, Rome; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
