Boonville- Luella M. Yager Vollmar, 80, affectionately known as "Peggy," widow of Frederick D., and longtime resident of the Miller Woods Road, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. Luella was born on April 5, 1933, a daughter of John and Iola Fassett Yager. She was educated in Boonville schools and graduated with the Class of 1952. On August 5, 1957 she was united in marriage with Frederick D. Vollmar in Norfolk, Virginia. Following their marriage the couple moved back north and made their home in Hawkinsville. Mr. Vollmar, a veteran of the US Navy, and owner of Fred's Furnace and Heating Repair, passed away on April 25, 2006. For a time Luella was employed at the Rice Veneer Mfg. Co. in McKeever. Later she enjoyed raising her family as a homemaker. Following Fred's passing she resided in their home until entering Sunset Nursing Home in February of 2012. Luella will be fondly remembered for the active role she played in the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church. Luella is survived by a daughter: Christine McCauley, two grandsons: Shaun (Barbara) McCauley and Russell (Alicia) Mansfield, three great-granddaughters: Cassidy, Cailyn and Megan. Also surviving are her sisters: Sarah Johnson, Jacqueline Saterlee and Emma (Alton) Buffet, her brothers Edward (Chris) Yager and Gordon Yager, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Betty Yager. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Ida LaVerne and brothers John Frederick and Stanley James Yager. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, at 11:00 am at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Joan Ripp will officiate. Graveside services for family and friends will be held this spring in Port Leyden Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 232 Academy St. Boonville, NY 13309, Attn: Resident Activities Fund.
